Paid to Write Guide

One of the largest opportunities for working from home is as a writer. Over the years freelance writing has been a job that most people do from home, but with the introduction of the internet, the writing field has become even more popular. If you like writing and your English is good, you can get paid to write either through traditional opportunities or through one of the many online opportunities and enjoy a career from home.

There are lots of ways to break into the freelance writing arena, even without previous experience. Becoming a freelance writer is as simple as researching and applying to various writing jobs online or doing your own content writing and finding a buyer for your work. While many experienced writers still write exclusively for print publications, there are many more online opportunities to get paid to write with little to no experience.

To begin writing for money, you will need a few things first:

- Good written communication skills are a must.

- A reliable internet connection is obviously necessary to get paid to write content for the web, but it is also extremely handy for finding offline freelance writing work.

- As a freelancer you will need the ability to start tasks on your own and budget your time.

- Self-discipline and have the ability to make and meet deadlines.

- You also need to be able to research and write about many different topics. This is especially true of writing online content.

If you possess these things, then you can start thinking about which area of freelancing writing to explore first. Basically, writing from home falls under four main areas: writing web content for others, writing for print, writing for revenue-sharing sites, and blogging (or writing for your own sites).

Writing for print is traditionally what people think of when you say “freelance writer”. If you’ve never done it before, start with small local publications and work your way up. You can start by finding a list of publications that accept “queries” by searching online. Queries are an introduction letter to your writing that also include an idea for a topic you would like to write about. Begin with topics you know well and write a couple of queries to see if there is any interest.

Keep in mind though, that the biggest drawback to writing for a print publication is it can take months to get paid for your submission. For many people, this type of payment scheme won’t work out, at least not when first starting out. In these cases online freelance writing opportunities are usually more appealing. There are lots of categories of online writing. Lots of webmasters need writers allowing you to get paid to write content for their websites, sales pages, newsletters, or blogs. You can ghostwrite e-books or other informational products.

Another way to make money writing online is by joining revenue-sharing sites and earning a residual income from your content submission. Revenue-sharing sites are websites that allow you to post your own content on their sites and then earn money from advertising. As your content pulls in website visitors, the site earns money from ads shown on the site and that ad revenue is shared with the writer. The more articles you post the more you can make over time.

Blogging is another way you can get paid to write from home. Blogs are a growing form of online media, and writers usually create their own content. You can make money writing if you start a blog and post to it every day. If you love writing, start several blogs on different topics and make more money. But do note that making money from a blog can take time and is greatly influenced by your choice of topic, so be prepared.

These are a few of the main ways to get paid to write content. Writing online is a great way to make money part-time or full-time from home without any special education requirements. But while the opportunities are almost endless, you will need to “learn the ropes”. This site contains information and links to resources that you help you get started.
