There has long been a debate among moms. The debate in question focuses on whether it is better to go back to work after having a baby, or to stay at home. Here enters work at home jobs for moms – a mom can now have it both ways!
There are may reasons for a mom to work from home. Working at home can boost the household income, as well as allow much needed adult conversation. With many jobs now offering telecommuting options, a new Mom may even be able to keep the job that she had pre-baby. For those that do not have that opportunity, there still many options.
Two popular work at home opportunities for stay at home moms include telecommunications work and resale via online auction.
Telecommunications
Numerous call centers offer both inbound and outbound calling positions for the home worker. Larger telecommunications companies list job openings on their websites, and typically offer an online application. Once a person has been notified that their application has been accepted, they will be interviewed. If hired, they will complete a company training program so that they are fully prepared to complete all aspects of their new job.
Several companies require a silent background, which means no children or pets making noise, even in another room. This is not possible with a newborn at home, but it is a great opportunity for the Mom whose child has begun attending school. Some outbound call centers do prefer background noise; the objective of this type of company is to call stores or businesses for quality assessments and price checks. The real life sounds in the background are a good thing in this instance. Telemarketing jobs often pay as much as a person could expect to make in a brick and mortar call center.
Online Auctions
Selling items through auction is also a great source of income for many people. There are numerous auction sites that operate online. Most charge a nominal listing fee, a percentage of the sale, or a combination of the two. Listing is easy; the auction site provides a user-friendly interface in which the item’s information is typed. A picture of the item can also be added. The seller chooses how long the auction will last and what they would like the starting bid to be. They can also put a reserve (minimum price they will accept) on the auction.
Most sellers start out by selling items that they no longer use from around their home. If they find this venture profitable, they may expand their offerings to include items that they have purchased in bulk or items picked up at local garage sales. Many people are able to make a very good supplementary income through online auctions although this area has become much more competitive in the last few years with the popularity of places like eBay.
There is no reason for a mom to have to deal with the pull of wanting to stay at home with her baby, but knowing she needs to help out the family financially. With the number of work at home jobs for Moms that are now available, no woman should ever have to face that dilemma again.
