Freelance work, as the very word suggests, means to work freely at one’s convenience mostly on a contractual basis. And freelance work from home is that kind of work which is undertaken and carried out to completion from the comforts of one’s own home. Again, this work is mainly of your own choosing and in tandem with your abilities, tastes, and expectations of earnings.
Home-based Freelance Jobs
Freelance work from home is not a long term commitment to one employer, but a short term or periodic commitment to one or more employers, parties or clients. Freelance work is mainly done over the internet these days as the flexibility offered by the home computer is unparalleled in the electronic world.
With the constant updates happening in the internet arena and almost infinite stretch of opportunities within it, freelance work has become a boon to professional freelancers, part time job seekers, the unemployed, housewives, the handicapped, the aged and a host of others who can work for money right from the limits of their home. The different types of freelance work from home jobs are also varied and cover a number of different fields. It could be copy writing, transcription, computer programming, graphic designing & consulting to name a few.
Freelance Payment Options
The payment for freelance jobs also varies greatly unlike permanent employment jobs. Freelancers may charge by the hour, by the day, weekly, fortnightly or monthly. Again, this can be per project or for a set of projects. Some experienced freelancers have done away with flat rates and have introduced value-based pricing depending upon the value of the project or the future results of a project that may accrue to a client in the future.
Payments can be customized as upfront fees, a percentage of the upfront fees or full payment upon completion of a project. For more complex projects a mutually agreed payment schedule list is made which is mainly based on the outcome of a work or completion of each targeted milestone.
The only draw back with freelance work is that you are never under the purview of general insurance, staff amenities, pensions and concessions. And taking on freelance work from home is not as easy as it sounds. You do have to invest time and plan your work schedule in order to get your job done on time without letting family and household tasks interfere with your work. Still to be independent and free from the shackles of an office bound job does have its own benefits.
