Data Entry Jobs From Home – Are They As Good As They Sound?

Data entry jobs from home are some of the most popular kinds of  work at home jobs advertised online. When you read the ads, they sound like the perfect solution to your job-hunting problems.  Who wouldn’t want to make $8,000 per month working part time from home?  Who wouldn’t want to earn $200 per day,  with no experience, and work only 1 – 3 hours? Does it sound to good to be true?  Well, there’s a good reason for that.  Here are some questions you can ask that will help you tell the real jobs from the scams.

Is this an ad for a job or an ad to start a business?  Many of the scammers online write headlines to attract people looking for employment, but the offer is really for a business of your own that you can operate from home.  The ad makes it sound so financially rewarding and so easy that you forget that you’re looking specifically for data entry jobs from home.  It’s easy to convince yourself that you should make a “small” investment to start your own home-based business, so that you can make thousands of dollars a day working for only one hour.  But instead of making money from home, you’ll be giving your money away to the guy who wrote the ad.

Does the home based data entry “opportunity” require you to spend money up front?  Many of these work from home opportunities are really bait-and-switch offers.  They try to get you to either buy an expensive “make money online” course, or to join a multi-level marketing program that requires you to buy inventory to get started in your business.  Data entry jobs from home offered by a legitimate company will not cost you any money up front.

Does the ad promise that you can make hundreds of dollars a day doing simple data entry?  If you do a little research online to find out what legitimate companies pay for data entry work, you’ll find the pay scale is usually considerably less than several hundreds of dollars per day.  So if the ad tells you that you can get rich doing data entry,  there’s a very good chance that it’s a scam.

But there is good news.  There are companies who hire people to do data entry jobs from home ( like KeyForCash.com).  Also, you can go to a freelance site such as elance.com, and type in “data entry”.  Make a list of the companies that are advertising their data entry services and contact them to see if they’re hiring.  This approach takes time, effort and persistence, but could be worthwhile if you can finally start working from home.
