So being an independent contractor is not really as risky as it sounds, once you know the ropes.
There are several freelance websites online that have been around for a long time and are reputable. These are great places for a new independent contractor to find work. And after spending a couple of months getting on jobs and building a reputation, it’s easy to develop your own client base.
Websites like guru.com and elance.com have sections for administrative support where companies look for independent contractors who can do data entry, Word processing, typing, transcription and even answering phones. The companies post the project description and the contractors post their bids for various clerical work from home.
As an independent contractor, it takes some research to learn the bidding process, and you may have to bid low for your first few jobs in order to accumulate some good feedback. But just consider that as part of your training. After a week or two, you’ll be an experienced pro, and you’ll be able to set your own work at home schedule.
If you’re not sure you have what it takes to be an Independent contractor, considered just trying it out as an adventure for one month. Tell yourself that you don’t have to continue with it if you don’t like it. But at the end of the month, you may just find that you have plenty of clerical work from home and your own home-based business.
